Hi, I am also trying to get a line on some Hardesty ancestors. I am Eileen Hardesty Segall, daughter of Robert Wayne Hardesty of Illinois and later Arizona. We are a restless crew, we Hardestys. I have tracked my people as follows: Robert Wayne, first son of eight children of James Robyn Hardesty, Hamilton Cty, Illinois and Margaret Francis Williams James Robyn, son of George Willis Hardesty and Susan Gaines, same place. Three other children, a boy and two girls. George Willis, son of Jesse Hardesty and Anna Jesse Hardesty, son of Wm. Christopher Hardesty, born in Tenn or N.C. Wm Christopher, along with another Jesse Hardesty and John Hardesty were early settlers of the southern Illinois area, 1810-1830 or thereabout. Wm. Christopher and John were very likely the sons of Henry Hardesty of Rowan County, N.C., and I theorize that Jesse was an uncle(?). This takes us back to the late 1700's, but is speculative, and is as far as I can go. The early Hardestys in MD are the probable connection, as they seemed to more into N.C. then further west and north. There are many lines that I cannot seem to follow, with the information I have, from MD. to N.C., or anywhere, for that matter. Only the ones who stayed in MD. seem to be well documented. If you know any more, let me know. Spellings, of course, changed back and forth between Hardisty, Hardesty, and Hardester. I am traveling to York very shortly and wish I could make a connection before I go. Nice to know you are out there. By the way, you are the only other Hardesty I know of in MA, I am in Dunstable. Eileen
