[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Eureka and I don't Mean Vacumm Cleaners
Hello again,
After I sent the e-mail while visiting your web page I got out my books and
discovered some
information specific to your Reunion file. I wanted to explain in detail so I am sending
this longggggg missile.
I was more than pleased to find a web page for the Hardesty family. I was
tickled pink
when I got there and saw that I had a chance to try out importing a gedcom file because I
had never done that. But when I realized that, not only did you use Reunion but you were
a
MAC user I was 'blown away'. I'm so used to running into IBM types. Now I'm really
excited
because I know I will be able to translate your file without too many problems - turned
out
without any problems!
I created a separate Reunion file from your gedcom. I jumped when I saw that at
least one
of the Hardesdy people on your list came from Talbot Co. Md. My old files produced a
match
with your 7th gr grandfather Elijah. I'm not sure that this group connects with my line
but
I do have information on his family from someone who wrote to me back in 1975.
The info is as follows:
<<"Francis (Frank) Hardesty came from Straffordshire, Eng. and settled in Md. in
1763
bringing with him five boys and his wife. The boys were: 1. Richard b 1751, 2. Elijah
b
1753, 3. Henry b 1755 4. Frank b 1757 5. William b 1760. They settled
in Talbot C. Md
where it is claimed was born: 6. Hezekiah 1763 and 7. Charles 1768.">>
Five of these boys were the same names as you have in your file! It must be that
same
group which makes Francis not Joseph your 7th gr grandfather. She said she had no proof
but
every piece of info about the 5 boys you had matched with hers so don't you think it's
got
to be the same? In addition, some other information supports the match.
<<"Elijah born 1753 Eng. located near Pittsburg, PA in Green Co. Henry born 1755
England
settled in VA near Winchester. William born 1760 England sent to Philadelphia where he
completed his education and entered ministry. Meth. Epis.">>
I think this William may have been my connection with this group but I've
never proven it.
Anyway, on with her letter:
<<"Hezekiah, my ancestor, born Talbot Co Sep 3, 1763, went to PA (with his parents it is
believed.) His pension papers show that he entered service R.W. at age 14. After the
war
he went to Ohio, then Ky., back to Ohio and finally to Ill. where he died 1846.">>
She then says that she isn't sure that her Hezekiah is the same one as in the
family group
above but, given the fact that her ancestor's info matches with what you had it must be
so.
Now, I have no idea whether this lady is still living. I had to quit my genealogical
escapades around that time because I got a promotion at work and my twin daughters were
turning into teen agers around that time- too much pressure!!! Now I am retired and
getting
back to some of those old records as I cruse the Net and peek into genealogy stuff in
there.
I will be very happy to xerox the 2 letters I have from this lady - Jesse Park
from
Neodesha, Kansas and send them on to you. There is some other stuff there about that
family
and you should have copies of the letters. If you are interested, send your snail mail
address and I'll mail them out. I also had a post card of a house called the "Hardesty
House" somewhere in Kansas, I think, but can't locate it just now. If I do, I'll scan it
and send it on to you via e-mail as well. Do you have JPEG viewer to read pictures?
That's enough stuff for now. Other info on me as follows:
