Notes

After Hervey's father death he lived with his mother with is aunt and uncle, David and Susan Lantz Stemple. When he turned 21 his mother and him purchased 65 acres of land on Mountain Top, near Aurora, from the heirs of John Henry Wotring, who owned and operated "The White Horse Inn" at the top of Cheat Mountain on Route 50.

Hervey married Bertha Wotring, Her lines goes back to Abraham Wotring, who cam to America in 1773 from Germany. They were of French decent, the name being spelled Vautrin, but due to religious persecution where forced in 1600 to flee from French Loraine to German Alsace.
